Medical Device Engineering

The Graduate School of Medical Device Engineering of the University of Lyon 1 is attached to Polytech Lyon. Research is placed at the heart of the training. Thanks to the union between training and research, you will benefit from a high-quality training and therefore have an impact on the medical device.

 

You might be wondering, what a medical device is?

Medical devices (MD) are defined as apparatuses, software, hardware or methods used for diagnosis or rehabilitation purposes (except human products). They can be used on their own or in association, for medical purposes on humans. The main action cannot be obtained through pharmaceutical, immunological or metabolic means.

 Application to the Master in Medical Device Engineering

Students who have been awarded at least a 4-year degree, whether it be a 4-years bachelor’s degree or a master’s degree in the following fields: physics, electrical engineering, biomedical engineering, mechanical engineering, biomechanics, pharmacy, physiotherapy, materials, veterinary, physical and analytical chemistry, physiology or medical. 

If you are eligible, you will have to provide the following documents through our platform:

♦ Identity document: passport or identity card

♦ CV

♦ Pre-university certificate (baccalaureate, A-level)

♦ University diplomas, degrees which have been completed

♦ Official transcripts of records (after A level)

♦ Non-English natives and students whose studies were not entirely taught in English have to provide an English test: 

  • IELTS “Academic” or Indicator (online)

  • TOEFL “iBT” at a test center or home (online)

  • TOEIC 

  • Cambridge “General and higher education”

♦ 2 letters

– 1 academic recommendation letter issued from a teacher

– 1 research-oriented cover letter
