Call for Excellence Doctoral Scholarship

 

The Lyon1 University is very proud to announce scholarships in support of excellent students who wish to complete their PhD in France, in an interdisciplinary doctoral program dedicated to link Oncology and the musculoskeletal system. Scholarships are supported by the Graduate initiative InnovInOnco and MuSkLE within the Graduate + framework.


Graduate + is a programm of training through research reuniting 4 French higher education institutions, 15 transdisciplinary thematic programms of excellence from undergraduate to doctoral level, intensive immersion in the world of research, scholarships for international students as well as scholarships for international mobility.


This programm is supported by the French National Research Agency as part of the Investments Program #3 / France 2030 (ANR-21-SFRI-0001)

Aim of the thesis:

This Doctoral scholarship is allocated for 3 years from November 2025 to October 2028 or a motivated applicant eager to work on in an interdisciplinary doctoral program dedicated to link Oncology and the musculoskeletal system.

Scholarship amount:

The amount of the doctoral scholarship is € 2100/month (gross salary) for 3 years.

Eligibility criteria for the PhD project:

  • Feasability of the co-supervision
  • Pluridisciplinarity of the project
  • Complementarity of the 2 teams
  • Expertise of PhD supervisors

Eligibility criteria for the PhD students:

  • Being a foreign student, new to a French university, living outside France at the time of application (dual citizenship accepted)
  • Having obtained a Master’s degree in a field related to the Graduate initiatives

 

Award criteria:

  • Excellence of the academic background
  • Research experiences inside and outside Academia
  • Motivation and consistency of the professional project

 

To be enclosed with the application:

  • A letter of recommendation of the potential thesis supervisor validating the PhD project. The supervisor must be affiliated with a Graduate initiative research unit or hosting laboratory
  • Curriculum Vitae (2 pages max)
  • Transcripts of records from Bachelor’s degree
  • If applicable, abstracts of the candidate’s previous work (e.g. dissertation, books, internship reports, scientific articles…)
  • Motivation letter
  • Letter of recommendation: written by former or current professors, lecturers, tutors or supervisors (Master’s thesis supervisor for instance)
  • Certificate of English level (TOEFL, IELTS, ECRL), except for English native speakers
  • Copy of an official identity document

The criteria for the selection of the applicants (phase 2) are described in the table below. This will be used to establish a score that will serve as a basis for ranking applicants, according to specified scoring percentages.

A vote of the Selection Committee will be used if the procedure does not allow to rank the candidates.
