The Graduate Programme Immunology, Vaccinology and infectious disease is launching a call for applications for one PhD contract funding on one of the following PhD topics (in the partner laboratories of IVID GI)

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Being a foreign student (dual citizenship accepted)

  • Having obtained a Master’s degree (or equivalent) in a field related to the Graduate initiative before the beginning of the PhD scholarship (official proof required)

Application Procedure:

  1. PhD candidates must submit their application file (a single pdf file) for one or two PhD projects to Patricia Doublet (doublet@univ-lyon1.fr; candidature-IVID@univ-lyon1.fr) with the following items:

  • Curriculum Vitae (2 pages max)

  • Transcripts of records from Bachelor and Master degree

  • If applicable, abstracts of the candidate’s previous work (dissertation, internship reports, scientific articles…)

  • Motivation letter

  • Letter of recommendation written by professors or supervisors

  • Certificate of English level (TOEFL, IELTS, ECRL, TOIC) except for English native speakers

  • Copy of an official identity document

 

  1. Applications will be reviewed by the thesis project supervisor. This will include an interview and any other steps deemed necessary by the project supervisor to evaluate applications and select a candidate.

 

  1. The final selection from among the candidates shortlisted by the project leaders will be made by the GI IVID board.

 

Award Criteria:

  • Excellence of the academic background

  • Research experiences inside and outside Academia

  • Motivation and consistency of the professional project

Calendar:

  • Submissions open: 02/03/2026

  • Deadline for applications:  17/05/2026

  • Decisions of acceptance: 10/07/2026

  • Start of PhD: September 2026

Funding Details:

The PhD thesis must begin no later than 1st September 2026. The funding corresponds to the amount of a French ministerial research grant. The SFRI funding covers 36 months, with no additional months of funding available.
