1. Scholarships Graduate+
When and how can I apply for Graduate+ excellence scholarships for the upcoming academic year?
Call for applications calendars vary depending on the Graduate Initiatives. We invite you to regularly check the open calls under the Calls for Applications section on our website. You can also view archives of past calls to anticipate application periods.
Does the excellence scholarship cover tuition fees or travel expenses?
No. Graduate+ scholarships are financial support intended to help cover living expenses in France. Travel expenses, university tuition fees, and differential tuition fees remain entirely the responsibility of the student.
As a Graduate+ scholarship recipient, am I automatically exempt from differential tuition fees applicable to foreign students, non-European students (i.e. students from countries outside the European Union, the European Economic Area and Switzerland)?
No, receiving a Graduate+ scholarship does not entitle you to an automatic exemption from differential tuition fees. The university offers an exemption application process. For eligibility criteria and application steps, please visit the UCBL Differential Tuition Fees and Exemptions Page.

2. Master's Admissions, Enrollment & Academic Information
How can I apply to Master’s program X? I have questions about my Master’s enrollment or start dates.
The Graduate+ project manages scholarships and stipends related to the Graduate Initiatives. We do not manage academic admissions or start-of-year schedules.
For any questions regarding applications, enrollment, and academic organization, please check the dedicated Master’s program webpage on the Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1 website and contact the relevant academic department (Scolarité) directly.
The eCandidat portal is closed or undergoing maintenance. I am experiencing a technical issue with eCandidat, who can I contact?
The Graduate+ team does not have administrative access to the eCandidat platform. For technical issues or platform inquiries, please consult the eCandidat FAQ first and contact technical support in case you didn’t find your answer in the FAQ directly at: ecandidat-support@univ-lyon1.fr.
I am having issues or questions regarding my administrative registration at Université Lyon 1
Administrative registration is handled by the Central Registrar’s Office. You can find answers to common issues on the UCBL Administrative Registration FAQ.
During registration periods (July and August), a dedicated phone helpline is available at +33 (0)4 72 43 13 23 (Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm CEST).
3. Accommodation & Arrival in France
Does my scholarship include accommodation?
No, the scholarship does not guarantee housing provided by the university. Finding accommodation is the student’s responsibility. If spots become available, scholarship holders will be notified, but we strongly encourage you to actively search on your own using. Here are some examples of website you can check:

For Master’s / Bachelor’s Students: The International Student Welcome Office at the DRI guides you on student life and integration. Visit the UCBL International Students Page and the Practical Guide for International Students.
For PhD Students & Researchers (Visas, Settlement): Please contact Espace ULYS, the dedicated office for international researchers and PhD candidates within the Université de Lyon network.

Students Welcome Desk (SWD): Every year at the start of the academic year, the Université de Lyon network sets up the Students Welcome Desk on this page. A multilingual team is available to assist you with administrative procedures (residence permits, settling in) and direct you to available local support services. The 2026 edition opens on August 24th.
