We are pleased to announce the launch of the Excellence Scholarship Campaign for Masters students who wish to attend one of the masters of the DYNLIFESYS Graduate Programme.

About the Multiscale dynamics of living systems (DYNLIFESYS) Graduate Programme

The DYNLIFESYS Graduate Programme aims at training students skills to study and model living systems, thereby preparing the next generation of scientists in fundamental biology. This ambitious research-based program focus on the study of the dynamics of living systems under normal and disturbed conditions, using model organisms or those with remarkable properties, on a scale from the molecular to the whole organism level.

These scholarships are intended for foreign students wishing to enroll in the Master ‘Biology’ (ENS Lyon / UCBL). This Master is a high-level academic program in general biology with a special emphasis on research. At the same time, a certain degree of specialization is possible through the choice of electives courses and internships. First year of Master is mainly in French, the second year of Master is in English (100%).

This training programme is part of the Graduate+ project involving four French universities on the Lyon – Saint-Etienne site: Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1, Ecole Normale Supérieure de Lyon, Université Jean Moulin and Université Jean Monnet.

Graduate+ proposes 15 transdisciplinary thematic programmes of excellence from undergraduate to doctoral level, intensive immersion into the world of research, scholarships for international students as well as scholarships for international mobility.

Scholarship amount

The amount of the scholarship is €1000 per month for 10 months, totaling €10000 per year per recipient.

 

Eligibility criteria

  • To be a foreign student, newcomer to a French university and living outside of France at the time of the application (French dual citizenship allowed)

  • Having obtained a Bachelor degree or 1 year of Master in the field of Biology or any field related to DYNLIFESYS.

 

Award criteria

  • Excellence of the academic background

  • Internship experiences and technical skills in research

  • Motivation and consistency of the professional project

Application Procedure

  • Submissions open: November 12th, 2024

  • Deadline for applications: January 31th, 2025

Candidates must send their application following information available on: https://www.ens-lyon.fr/en/studies/admissions/application-masters-degrees-and-scholarships

 

To be enclosed with the application:

  • Proof of higher education diplomas: Bachelor or Master 1 (180 or 240 ECTS for European students)
  • Curriculum Vitae (1 page)
  • Motivation letter: 1 page explaining the applicant’s career goals, how this Master’s programme will help the applicant to achieve them and their motivations to join Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1
  • Description of studies
  • Transcripts of records from Bachelor’s degree on
  • If applicable, abstracts of the candidate’s previous work (e.g. dissertation, books, internship reports, scientific articles…).
  • Certificate of English level (TOEFL, IELTS, ECRL), except for English native speakers
  • Certificate of French level, if application in first year of Master
  • Copy of an official identity document
  • letter(s) of recommendation written by former or current professors, lecturers, tutors or supervisors.
  • The jury will meet the week of February 24th, 2025 and notifications will be issued on the week of March 3rd, 2025.

 

Administrative prodecure

In parallel with the above procedure, students should act according to their situation and apply to the training programme on the dedicated national platforms.

These two procedures are independent of each other but compulsory.
